What is the meaning behind the Eye of Horus?
The Eye of Horus is an ancient Egyptian symbol known worldwide. This symbol represents healing, protection, rejuvenation, and rebirth.
The Story of Eye of Horus
In ancient Egyptian religion, a god (Horus) in the form of a falcon eye lost his left eye in a struggle with Seth. After several battles, Horus triumphs and retains the throne. However, during the fight, Seth rips out one of Horus's eyes and cuts it up into several pieces. Horus' eye was magically restored by Hathor, the goddess of fertility and love, or by Thoth, the god of magic, wisdom, and the moon. Because Horus' eye was restored by magic, ancient Egyptians believed it had healing properties.
